Spesía is mostly owned by its founders and employees and a selected group of investors. The CEO and founder of Spesía is Georg Lúðvíksson, founder and former CEO of the company Meniga. Tómas Áki Gestsson is the company's founder and investment manager, having held various positions within the Icelandic financial market, most recently at the Central Bank. Other co-founders and owners include Peter Short, the company's CTO and co-founder, Bergur Ebbi, a co-founder who leads marketing, and Tinna Karen Gunnarsdóttir, a co-founder who leads front-end development.
In addition, just over 20 investors, mainly individuals and family investment offices, are shareholders in Spesía. These include Arnar Þór Másson and the investment firm of Guðmundur Fertram Sigurjónsson, both of whom are on Spesía’s board of directors.

Yes, if you have an Icelandic ID number, electronic ID and are 18 years or older. But note that we still withhold 22% capital gains tax from all clients when profits are realized. If you are supposed to pay lower tax in Iceland due to tax residence elsewhere and/or double taxation agreements, you need to account for this yourself on your Icelandic tax return and apply for a correction to RSK when assessed.
